Living Bread and Living Water

This Site and its Stewards

As we move closer to the end of this age, or aeon as it is called in the Greek New Testament, the distance between the world and God appears to be growing at an accelerating pace. With that in mind we want to welcome you to a place that recognizes that within the Ecclesia, His body, we all need a respite from the divisions that plague this present evil age as Paul called it.

So this site is being crafted in love for all of you who love God, and who love the truth, and are willing to strip off the things of this world, especially the mind-set which believes in a zero-sum game, or believes in a necessary destruction of some for the sake of others. We, as servants of God’s people and stewards of the mysteries of God, read the New Testament carefully, particularly when it comes to the beneficiaries of Christ’s immeasurable sacrifice. For “just as in Adam all are dying, so also in Christ all are being made alive.” (1 Cor. 15:20) It is this parallelism in this and many other places in Paul’s memorable teaching of the gospel, that we can embrace the Plan of God’s will to for all to be saved (1 Tim. 2:4)– the verb theleo actually means “will” and thus cannot mean “wish.” God simply does not need to wish, for His will is to be done, so that one day He will be all in all (1 Cor. 15:28)

Therefore, on this site, you will find the treasures of God’s love, revealed through His word, and the incomparable working out of “the counsel of His will” (Eph. 1:11). And we hope you will find fresh insight and realizations for yourselves as to how the days to come will work out; perhaps a clearer picture of the unfolding of the “final part of the days” of this age or aeon. Daniel’s prophecy was sealed for this time, and many have debated it since then. Our prayer is that these reflections will bring comfort, peace, and preparation.

Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “Be imitators of me, according as I also am of Christ.” (1 Cor. 11:1) In that regard, this site is dedicated to those to whom Paul was dedicated, that is, those for whom Christ has a special care, His Chosen Ones, or Elect [Gk. eklektoi]. And even though we offer these writings in love for all, it is really for the Elect that they are posted. Even as Paul said

Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel, for which I suffer hardship, even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned. For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen [‘Elect’], that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eonial glory. 2 Timothy 2:8-10

And for the sake of the Elect, Christ Jesus proclaimed a shortening of the days of the great tribulation

For then there will be such a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall. And unless those days had been cut short, no flesh would have been saved but for the sake of the elect those days shall be cut short. Matt. 24:21-22

Then shall they be gathered to Himself

Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give her light, and the stars will fall from the heaven, and the powers of heaven will be shaken . . . and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and glory. And He will send forth His messengers with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from the extremities of the heavens to their extremities. Matt. 24:29-31

There will be much more to be said on the pages under the heading The Elect,” where this beloved part of Christ, in whom He will be revealed, shall enjoy the allotment of Life in the ages to come. But all of this has been to say that the living bread and living water given on this site are most especially for those foreknown by God, that they may endure to lay hold of their inheritance in the Heavens.

It is that which comes in Him who has said

I am the Living Bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone should be eating of this bread, he shall be living for the aeon; moreover, the bread which I shall be giving for the sake of the life of the world, is my flesh. – John 6:51 (Concordant Version)

And with this Word of Life, this Divine Son of the Father

whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He makes the aeons; who being the radiance of His glory, and the exact impression of His nature, besides carrying all things by the declaration of His power – Heb. 1:2-3

Also comes with this gift of God, Living Water

If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water . . . Whoever may be drinking of the water I shall be giving him, no shall not be thirsting for the aeon; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a spring of water welling up to eonial life. John 4:10, 13-14

Our prayer then for our readers, and for all people is that they come to the truth, which is that Life comes to us in the Word of Life, even Jesus Christ, who not only revealed the nature of God by being that nature in human form, but also gave the gift of life by swallowing up death by His death. (cf. Isa. 25:8)

Our Citizenship is in the Heavens

And if our citizenship is in the Heavens (Phil. 3:21) then we are ambassadors from that Heavenly Kingdom,  we who have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ (Eph. 1:3), and raised up with Him, and seated with Him in the celestials in Christ Jesus (Eph. 2:6). And as ambassadors of Christ we must herald the evangel of peace, even as did our brother Paul.

For God has been reconciled to the world through Christ Jesus, and indeed

God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin, to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.      2 Cor. 5:19-21

And so we are. Nothing to boast in ourselves, but we boast in Christ.

So with the true Life having come down from Heaven, and the true drink of the Spirit welling up from within, please receive this Living Bread and Living Water in the spirit of the love with which it is given. We are two witnesses to the Life that is in Christ alone — though we are NOT ‘The Two Witnesses’ in Revelation.

Let each of us be found with the spirit of Christ in us — so that we belong to Him (Romans 8:9) — and showing that Spirit by the love we have for each other, and also by the love we have for our enemies. For many may ridicule and revile, and such can only be won by love.  We can only overcome evil by good. (Romans 12:21)

So until He comes, let us do our utmost to heed the words of Paul

“Let the word of Christ be dwelling in you richly” (Col.3:16)
